Terms
Last updated: 24 September 2026. These terms, and the privacy policy that forms part of them, exist only in English. The Portuguese, Spanish, French and German pages of this site summarise them for convenience; where a summary differs from this text, this text is the one that applies.
Give to Reach is a free Gmail add-on. None of the money a sender gives reaches us or the person they wrote to. By installing it you agree to these terms.
Who runs Give to Reach. Give to Reach is run by Sergio González, in Portugal, who is the other party to these terms. In them, "we" and "us" mean Give to Reach's operator. Contact: privacy@givetoreach.com.
1. What it does in your name
- It runs inside your own Google account, as you, once an hour. It reads mail from senders you have never dealt with and, unless its headers show it is automated, has it classified by an AI model. A cold pitch, and any other kind you choose in Settings at givetoreach.com (job applications, investors or the press), is moved out of your inbox under a visible label and answered in its thread, from your address and in your name, asking the sender to give a small amount to GiveDirectly to have the email put back, with a shorter note each time the sender writes again. Mail from a sender who asked for no more notes or whom you ruled a liar is set aside without one, and so are LinkedIn messages if you choose that in Settings. Anything else a first-time sender writes you stays in your inbox.
- Nothing is deleted. From the add-on's card you can restore an email or mark a sender as known; from your page at givetoreach.com you can take a break; and you can uninstall at any time.
- The text of mail from first-time senders is read by an AI model. Its answer decides what happens to each email. Your own name and addresses are replaced before the text leaves your account, and your profile goes with it; the sender's text goes as written and is discarded after it is read. The privacy policy names the provider, says what is sent and what comes back, and is updated before the provider ever changes.
- Until you have filled in the four profile fields on the Profile tab at givetoreach.com, no email is sent to the model or answered, and no pitch is set aside.
2. Who may use it
- To use Give to Reach you need to be 18 or older, and to own the Gmail mailbox you install it on or have its owner's permission.
- If your mailbox belongs to an employer's Google Workspace, it is your responsibility to check that your employer allows an add-on that archives mail, sends automated replies and has incoming mail read by an outside AI service.
- Places are limited and offered from the waitlist. We may end someone's access, and we will tell them if we do.
3. The reply promise is yours
- The note promises the sender an answer within three business days, a week or two weeks, whichever you choose, once their gift has landed. A change applies to notes sent after it. That promise is made in your name and it is yours to keep. The add-on restores the email, stars it, shows you a countdown and reminds you, but it cannot answer for you.
- You choose which version of the note goes out, and you are responsible for it as for any email sent from your address. It carries your name and, if you add one, a line under it; never a postal address.
- A Gmail filter or other rule that archives unknown senders can hide a restored email from you.
4. Donations
- A sender's gift goes to GiveDirectly through Every.org, a registered US 501(c)(3) public charity, which is the legal recipient of the gift, issues the donor's receipt, and applies its own terms to the transaction. The charity is the same for everyone.
- The gift is not a payment to you or to Give to Reach. Only Every.org and GiveDirectly ever touch the money, and neither you nor we can refund a gift.
- The amount and wording a sender sees may vary between senders while a variant is being tested (for example $2 against $3). The amount is always stated to the sender before they give.
- Nothing here is tax advice for you or for a sender. Whether a gift is deductible is a question for the donor and their tax authority.
5. Scoring by an AI model
The scores and categories are a model's opinion of a piece of writing, not facts about a person or a company. The kind of email decides what happens to it: a cold pitch, and any other kind you chose, is set aside and answered; anything else stays in your inbox. Beyond that, they are used only in the pooled statistics of section 6.
6. Research and published results
- Taking part means that, for each email the model reads, the scores, the category, which note and price were shown, a salted one-way hash of the sender's address and what happened next go to the Give to Reach relay, are pooled with other participants' data, and feed published statistics that name no one, as the privacy policy describes.
- A line of your own on the public page, under an anonymous label, appears only if you separately agree to it.
- Your personal data is never sold.
7. Availability and changes
- We may change, pause or close Give to Reach. We will tell you before a change that matters to you, and you can uninstall at any time. Updates reach the add-on automatically through the Google Workspace Marketplace.
- We can also pause Give to Reach for everyone at once. The add-on's card then says so, and nothing is set aside, answered or restored until we resume.
- If it stops, breaks or is switched off, your mail arrives in your inbox as normal, and anything already set aside stays under its label for you to restore.
- These terms may be updated. If the way the add-on uses your Google data changes, you will be asked to agree before the change takes effect.
8. Ending your use
Uninstall the add-on at any time; that revokes its access to your account, and anything still set aside stays under its label in your mailbox. Then delete your data from your page at givetoreach.com, or ask us; if the add-on is still installed, it reconnects within the hour. Anonymised data your inbox contributed to the pooled results stays, as the privacy policy describes.
9. No warranty
To the extent the law allows, Give to Reach is provided as is and as available, without any warranty of any kind, express or implied, including that it will set aside the right emails, leave the right ones alone, send every note, notice every gift, or run at all. You remain responsible for your own inbox and for what is sent from it.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of Give to Reach, including an email set aside or missed, a note sent in your name, a sender's reaction, a gift that was not matched, or a missed reply promise. Nothing in these terms limits liability for intent or gross negligence, for death or personal injury, or any other liability the law does not allow to be limited.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by Portuguese law, and any dispute will be brought before the Portuguese courts, without prejudice to any protection you are entitled to under the law of the place where you live.
12. Google
Your use of Gmail remains subject to Google's own terms. The add-on's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements, as set out in the privacy policy.
